The DST demonstrates highly likely, above normal temperatures in Europe this week (July 22-28)

July 18 forecast

It has been a month since the online Decision Support Tool (DST) has gone live with operational sub-seasonal and seasonal forecasts of wind energy, solar energy, hydropower, and energy balance forecasts. These forecasts provide high potential value for decision-making and planning processes across sectors of society, regarding climate change and variability.

What are the S2S4E case studies?

Earlier in the S2S4E project, eight case studies have been selected to provide real-world examples which demonstrate the potential of the forecasts used in the Decision Support Tool (DST). The eight historical case studies have been selected as most relevant by industrial partners, due to unusual climate behaviour affecting the energy market.

Midway Status Report

S2S4E is a three-year project that started in December 2017. We have reached the midway point of our project and we are reflecting on the work completed so far.

During this first half of the project, the eight S2S4E work packages (WP) have advanced according to the plan, producing 25 deliverables, many of them building the knowledge and technical base for the creation of the S2S4E Decision Support Tool (DST). The DST was recently launched in Brussels on June 20th, during the European Sustainable Energy Week.

Save the date: S2S4E’S new forecasting tool for the energy industry to be launched on 20 June

Get ready for the DST launch

The H2020-funded project “Subseasonal-to-seasonal Forecasts for Energy” (S2S4E) is proud to announce the official launch of Resilience, its fully functional Decision Support Tool (DST) for the energy market. The event will take place at Norway House, Brussels, on 20 June during the European Union Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW).

First public sneak peek of new forecasting tool given at E-World

S2S4E at e-World

A preview of the new forecasting tool for renewable energy production that is being developed by the S2S4E project was shown to attendees of the E-World Energy & Water fair in Essen, Germany from 5-7 February.

This was the first time that a preview of the new decision support tool (DST) was given in public.

A beta version of the tool will be launched in June, and it will be free to use for the first 18 months.
